What your last diet didn't teach you

Did your last diet “work”?

Did you lose all your weight?

Did you end up gaining it back?

This is the thing...we decide that tomorrow is the day and we go from 0 to 60 in no time flat.

We go from bacon cheeseburgers to salads with no dressing.

And zero exercise to 5 times a week.

And then we can’t keep it up.

Because you can’t run a marathon without training.

Last week I did a live video on my FB page on how to start so you can keep going...forever (watch it here if you haven’t yet https://www.facebook.com/drjenspring/videos/2407072516283110/ ).

You may roll your eyes when I say walk for 15 minutes and change nothing else.

Or write down what you plan to eat 24 hours in advance...without changing a thing about what you eat.

Your brain is probably saying...that’s not enough. I have 50 pounds to lose! These tips are B.S.

They aren’t-- these steps teach you how to STICK TO IT long enough to lose all your weight.

And how to stick to it so you maintain it PERMANENTLY with ease.

Diets and exercise programs teach what to DO.

But they don’t teach you HOW to stick to it when you want oreos, fritos, and to sleep in instead of workout.

That’s what I teach. One decision, one step at a time.

So if you are doubting...and your brain is having a fit that one small change isn’t enough, think about a rudder on a boat.

If you move that rudder slightly today, you’ll end up in a completely different place five years from now compared to where you’d be if you’d just left it alone.

You don’t have to make massive change today to create the future you desire.

Small consistent steps that you WILL KEEP TAKING is the way to get there.

Lay your foundation. Go get what you want.

P.S. View from my workspace on the 50th floor of the Empire State Building. Every year they hold a race called the Empire State Building Run-up where participants race up 86 flights of stairs to the Observatory. The fastest runners do it around 10 minutes. The majority of people do it much slower. Regardless of the time it took, they all got there by laying a foundation of training step-by-step, flight-by-flight and building on that. Losing your weight is no different. By learning the foundational skills, you can stick with it long enough to reach the top and stay there regardless of what life throws your way.
